How to Practice Self-Care as a Busy Entrepreneur

Image

For a busy entrepreneur, self-care is at the bottom of the priority list. You're managing a company, a home, a life, and everything in between. You've got a lot of spinning plates. Self-care is the last thing on your mind. Nonetheless, it is most likely the single factor that will boost your productivity, creativity, and general happiness.
Make self-care a priority in your life. It's just as important as breathing or eating. However, because you can live without it, it may be overlooked in favour of goals and the never-ending to-do list, which means we must be resourceful. Are you familiar with the saying, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"? What you've been doing so far hasn't been effective. That is why you clicked on this post, hoping against hope that you will have time for self-care at some point.
If you don't make time, you'll never have it, but that doesn't mean it has to be a huge problem. We want self-care to become so automatic in our lives—like brushing our teeth—that we don't even have to think about it. However, you must accept that you require it. You're probably denying it and condemning yourself for not being more productive since you know you can do it all.
You must look after yourself and let go of the harmful belief that you must be productive at all times. The world does not come to a halt because you spend half a day doing something you enjoy or five minutes standing in the sun.
How do you practise self-care now that you know this?

1. Get a List Together

The first step is to figure out what kind of self-care you require. Everyone is different, so if a bubble bath helps you relax, that's fantastic. It does not, however, work for everyone. You should make a list of the things that truly assist you. You'll need a list and activities for each of the six forms of self-care.

  • Emotional
  • Practical
  • Physical
  • Mental
  • Social
  • Spiritual

The advantage of having a list on hand is that figuring out what to do when you're exhausted and just want to relax takes energy you don't have. Prepare ahead of time so you can quickly access a list of self-care activities in your notes app or notepad.
If you're feeling emotionally weary, for example, open your notebook and observe how you feel when you record your feelings or go for a stroll.
Spend some time thinking about what has made you feel better in the past to figure out what works best for you. If you are quickly socially exhausted and require alone time, consider what you generally do to recoup and add it to your list.
Keep in mind that this has to be genuine. It can't be based on what others expect of you.
If sitting in the dark listening to country music helps you recuperate socially, then write it down. Don't put "go to a party" on your list because that isn't self-care. Self-care is what makes you feel more like yourself.
When you feel like you need some self-care, the more options you have, the more chance you'll have since one thing can catch your attention. Make sure you have a go-to so you can pick one without having to choose if you're having trouble making decisions.

2. Make It Manageable

The types of self-care activities you should undertake should be short and achievable so that it does not feel like a duty. You must make the activities as easily available as possible so that you do not postpone (like you have been doing).
Make sure that all of the activities you do to improve your mood, connect with yourself, and feel relaxed and rejuvenated are modest bite-sized bits.
You can have two lists in your lists: a longer list with activities that are five to ten minutes long for self-care days when you finally carve out time in your schedule for one, and a shorter list with activities that are five to ten minutes long for self-care days when you finally carve out time in your schedule for one.
If you're emotionally drained and don't feel like going for a walk, prepare a list of journal questions or take a short walk around the block (or garden, just get outside).
The greatest strategy is to plan on being too weary to care for oneself. All you have to do now is set the ball rolling, and the fun will carry you the rest of the way. The most difficult obstacle to overcome is just getting started.

3. Incorporate It Into Your Routine and Schedule It

Preemptive attacks, or incorporating self-care into your daily routine so you don't have to think about it, is the next step. This could include things like doing yoga while watching TV in the evenings or socialising while preparing dinner.
The most effective approach to do so is to include minor habits into your daily routine. Don't make it worse. Adapt it so that there isn't a lot of change at once.
For instance, don't go on social media or work while making coffee in the morning. Listen to a podcast that intrigues you to get away from your screens and take a mental vacation.
We can schedule self-care into your diary once you've established a little routine. Schedule it, whether it's a half-day off to attend a meditation retreat or a day to binge-read romance novels. Make time for it. You'll never find some spare time to practise self-care. What makes you believe that will change now that you haven't?
Remember that insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. You must set aside and arrange time for yourself. Make preparations. Stick to them and don't give in if anything comes up that forces you back to work. You, too, are significant.

4. Automate Your Life

You need to look after yourself but don't have the time? It's not a problem—just automate your life.
What are you doing that is pointless in your life? Something that isn't critical to your objectives or your life? There are always bizarre things we do that take up a lot of time but aren't necessary. Find out where you're wasting time and automate or eliminate it.
If you don't have to do it, cancel the appointment, terminate that time-consuming, unprofitable customer, and quit volunteering your spare time instead of caring for yourself. Now that you have more free time, you can include more self-care or take a self-care day.
Automate as much of your life as possible. This is an excellent method to avoid burnout. Simple things like pre-planning meals and preparing grocery lists weeks in advance, setting reminders, or moving to online-only billing to avoid the post office are all examples of this.
The less decisions you have to make, the fewer irritating tasks you'll have to complete, and the more time you'll have for self-care, the better. Automate it if it irritates you.

5. Outsource Your stress

You wear a lot of hats as an entrepreneur. You are typically the marketing expert, social media manager, accountant, sales associate, brand ambassador, and administrator in addition to being the CEO. It's easy to become engrossed in all of this, but you don't have to.
If you have a task that causes you constant stress—you know what I'm talking about, the one you put off and dread—outsource it. Hire a part-time employee to handle the aspects of your business that you aren't so good at. This frees up a lot of time for you to focus on the aspects of your business where you excel, as well as a lot of mental and emotional space in your head.
Making your life as streamlined and stress-free as possible is a type of self-care. When climbing up a mountain, the goal is to enjoy the adventure, not to pick up large, huge boulders to carry to the summit. Drop the boulders and have them carried for you by a trained boulder handler.
This can also apply to your personal life; don't be hesitant to seek assistance. Delegate some of your life's responsibilities to others so you may spend more time on yourself. You don't have to do everything by yourself.
