DIY Face Scrub for All Skin Types.

Though we always clean our face every day with a good cleanser, do you know how much scrubbing is important for your face? what all are the benefits of facial scrubs? Well, let me explain to you in short: face scrubbing is very much needed in the skincare routine. It removes all dirt, dead skin cells, oil, and sweat. It also prevents clogged pores and instantly boosts blood circulation and collagen production.

Facial scrubs are easily available in the market but it is super easy to make at home with all ingredients present in your kitchen. And trust me, these scrubbers are well tried and tested.

Let’s start DIY Facial Scrub

1) Honey and Oats Scrub

Honey is a natural exfoliant and moisturizer. It is well known to kill all the unwanted bacteria on your skin. It acts effectively against acne to give you acne-free and smooth skin.  

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon plain oats (finely ground)
  • 4 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil (you can also use coconut or olive oil)

Preparation

  1. Make a smooth and fine powder od oats using a grinder.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl.
  3. If the paste is too sticky, add few drops of oil or water.
  4. Apply to the skin and gently rub it for a few minutes.
  5. Rinse the scrub.
  6. You can store the leftover scrub in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for one week.

2) Coffee Face Scrub

Coffee, when scrubbed on the face, removes dead skin cells, improves circulation, tightens the skin, reduces cellulite, and prevents aging.  

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon coffee grinds
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil or Olive oil

Preparation

  1. Take a clean bowl and mix all the ingredients very well.
  2. Apply the paste in a circular motion for a few minutes.
  3. Let it sit for another 15 minutes on your face.
  4. Clean your face with normal water.
  5. Apply moisturization and drying your face.

3) Alovera Face Scrub

Alovera provides moisturization and radiance to your skin. It removes wrinkles, dark spots, acne, scars, tan and dark circles.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Alovera gel
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar

Preparation

  1. Take a clean bowl and mix the aloe vera gel and sugar very well.
  2. Apply it gently on your face and massage for at least 2 minutes.
  3. Wash your face with cold water.

4) Apple and Honey Scrub

Apple has the goodness of natural fruit acids and enzymes. Apple is also used for exfoliation. Honey has the antibacterial properties that nourish and moisturizes the skin. This scrub is very well suitable for oily or acne-prone skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe apple, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 tablespoon raw organic honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon jojoba oil or olive oil

Preparation

  1. Make the puree of the apple but not runny.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Apply in circular motions to your face for 60 seconds.
  4. Let it sit on your skin for 5 minutes.
  5. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

5) Lemon Face Scrub

Lemon is a rich source of vitamin C. it also has the goodness of antioxidants, antibacterial, and skin lightening properties.It gives a natural bleach to your skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or coconut oil

Preparation

  1. In a clean mixing bowl mix all the ingredients very well.
  2. Gently apply this mixture on your face in a circular motion for a few minutes.
  3. Wash your face with clean water.

6) Banana Oatmeal Scrub

Banana contains potassium, and vitamin C. presence of silica boosts collagen production in your skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoon finely ground oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt

Preparation

  1. Smash the banana and make a smooth batter. Don’t make it in running consistency.
  2. Grind oats and make a fine powder of it.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a clean mixing bowl.
  4. Apply to your skin in circular motions for 60 seconds.
  5. Clean your fresh with normal water.

Note: This scrub is very well suited for oily skin.

7) Strawberry Face Scrub

Strawberry is a rich source of vitamin C and helps in reducing dark spots, tan and gives you a refreshing skin.

Ingredients

  • 2 Strawberry
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or coconut oil

Preparation

  1. Mash the strawberries very well.
  2. In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients and mix it nicely.
  3. Apply the scrub on your face in a circular motion for a few minutes.
  4. Let it rest for another 15 minutes on your skin.
  5. Rinse it off with cold water.

8) Oatmeal and yogurt scrub

Oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the skin. Yogurt has natural lactic acid that acts very well for exfoliation.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons finely ground oats
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon jojoba or coconut oil

Preparation

  1. Make a fine powder of oats using a grinder.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a clean mixing bowl.
  3. Apply to your face in a gentle circular motion for about 30 to 60 seconds.
  4. Rinse the scrub with lukewarm water.

Chocolate Face Scrub

Chocolate contains antioxidants that detox the skin, reduces acne, and lighten the complexion. It also moisturizes the skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (if not then dark chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil or olive oil

Preparation

  1. In a mixing bowl put all the ingredients one by one. If you are using dark chocolate first felt it very well.
  2. Apply the scrub on your face for few minutes in a circular motion.
  3. Clean your face properly with normal water.

How frequently should you use a facial scrub?

For oily skin- three times a week.

For sensitive, acne-prone, or dry skin- once or twice a week.

Tips to follow

Before applying an ingredient to your face, do a small test patch to the inside of your elbow. If your skin doesn’t react or irritate to the ingredient, it’s probably safe to use it on your face.

If you have sunburned, chapped, wound, acne, pimples or reddened skin do not apply the scrubs.
